FAQ

    For Document Review Contract Attorneys:

LexInsight is a digital, on-demand marketplace that connects eDiscovery document review contract attorneys directly with employers (law firms and end clients). Our aim is to help you find document review projects and get hired in real time. LexInsight is the proprietary product of LexInnova Technologies, LLC incorporated in Cupertino, CA.

At the moment LexInsight is a marketplace only for document review related projects.

LexInsight provides an easy way to register on the platform. You just need to fill up a simple form with details like your first Name, last Name and a valid email address. You would be asked to choose a username and a password. The system will prompt you to verify the email address, after which you would be able to use all the features of the platform.

LexInsight connects the buyers of document review services with the service providers directly. There are three ways by which this could happen:
    1. Staffing based on projects posted on the platform:
    a. Client posts her project on the platform by entering project details like budget, plaintiff, defendant, start date, location, required skills etc.
    b. LexInsight’s algorithm matches project-specifications with document review attorneys’ skills. Instant notification is sent to the attorneys who are shortlisted by the algorithm to seek their interest and availability for the project.
    c. The attorney or paralegal who has been shortlisted can bid for the project.
    d. The client reviews the bids and accepts the ones that best match her criteria. All concerned parties receive notifications to confirm the engagement.
    2. Document review attorney searches for projects on the platform:
    a. Document review attorneys use the platform’s search interface to find active projects and bid for them directly.
    b. The clients review the bids and accept the ones that best match their criteria. All concerned parties receive notifications to confirm the engagement.
    3. Clients search for document review attorneys on the platform:
    a. Clients use the platform’s search interface to find document review attorneys whose skills closely match wit the requirements of her project.
    b. The Client sends notifications to the selected attorneys through the platform inviting them to join the project.
    c. If the document review attorney accepts the bid, he is staffed on the project, and all parties receive confirmation notifications.

Document review projects are typically staffed within a week or so. Therefore, most clients accept or reject a bid within that timeframe.

There is no cost for joining the platform or bidding for any project. Contract attorneys can browse and bid for as many projects as they would like.

Document review attorneys report their billable hours (“Time Log”) on a weekly basis. LexInsight will raise invoice to the Client on behalf of the document review attorney as per the mutually agreed payment cycle, and based on the total number of hours logged in by the attorney during the cycle-period.

It is critical on part of the document review attorneys to maintain good-quality time logs on a weekly basis. The Client must review and approve or dispute the weekly Time Log within 96 (ninety-six) hours of receiving it. Frequent communication with the client regarding the hours billed and deliverable may help in keeping any Time log related issues at bay. However in the unfortunate situation when such an issue arises LexInsight’s dispute resolution team works with both the parties to resolve the issue amicably.

The rating system is an important feature of the marketplace. After a project has been as marked completed by the client or the document review attorney is no longer staffed on the project, each side will be prompted to provide feedback and rate the other side’s performance.

No, at the moment we don’t allow staffing firms to join LexInsight. Each profile on the client side has to be created using her official email ID. The profile is carefully screened by our team and only the end- clients (law firms or corporations) are allowed to create a profile.

Circumventing the LexInsight platform to work with clients outside the platform is a material violation of our Terms of Services. You should report such instances at legal@lexinsight.com. If we come across any such case, we reserve the right to initiate legal proceedings against the parties involved.

LexInsight does not deduct any amount for withholding, unemployment, Social Security, or other taxes for the Document Review attorneys or Clients, who are solely responsible for all tax returns and payments required to be filed with or made to any federal, state, or local tax authority.

We conduct educational, professional licensing and criminal background checks on all members of LexInsight.

The payment process is pretty simple. The Document review attorney maintains his/her time logs within the platform and raises her invoice at a time mutually agreed between you and the contract attorney. You can review the time log and approve her invoice. After approving, you make the payment, using your preferred method, to LexInsight, which disburses the funds to the contract attorney after deducting a Platform Service Fee and Payment Processing Fee, as applicable.

Once the project is posted, our system sends out notifications to all the candidates whose skills match with the requirements of your project. The selected candidates then bid for the project by entering their billing rates, which might vary. You receive a notification every time a candidate bids for your project. You can use the system to accept/reject the bids. You may either invite the shortlisted candidates for interview or hire them directly. Once hired, you may ask the contract attorneys to execute Service contracts with you.

The system sends out notifications to candidates in real-time, so you are likely to receive multiple bids within just a few hours of posting the project.

The document review contract attorneys work as independent contractors. We have no control over their services. However, if a contract attorney doesn’t show up to work, we will work with you to find a suitable replacement asap.
